⦿ IOTA DXPEDITION

Island-On-The-Air or IOTA is an innovative activity program that promotes amateur radio communications. According to IOTA Official website (https://www.iota-world.org), it has caught the interest of thousands of radio amateurs worldwide. IOTA enables radio contacts with stations located on islands around the world to enrich the experience of all active amateur radio bands.

Since the Philippines comprises more than 7000 islands, some of our SCAN International members can participate in this activity. DX7EVM SCAN International, through the team of Omar Dumaguing, DU7OK, recently participated in the 2021 IOTA DXpedition (OC-129 Adlawan Island, Philippines). DU7OK relates, "We were able to have 137 contacts even though we were late for 6hrs because of huge waves. The coastguards didn't allow us to travel by motorized banka; they only allowed us to travel by ferry because of the southwest monsoon or habagat."
